In a globalized world, being informed and inspired by your everyday life becomes ever important to be rooted in the here and now.

This workshop focuses on graphic design, typography, and do-it-yourself publishing. It will explore combining text and images to create custom designs to promote an event for a specific time and place.

Participants will be asked to contribute their fliers to an online gallery website.

You will understand the weight and potential of communicating with words and images in tandem. By understanding your message's clarity for a specific context, while embracing your imagination, you will learn how to design with purpose.  At the end of the workshop, you will take home a printed and digital flier to add to your portfolio. Perhaps this could inspire you to hold space for local events!

In this course, you'll learn to...
  • Communicate your ideas through humour, analogy, simile, and metaphor
  • Use new tools and techniques for both digital and analog 2D design
  • Incorporate graphic design elements and text-based skills for promoting local events
