With a focus on graphic design, typography, and do-it-yourself publishing, this workshop explores how to effectively use text with image to create original 2D art or design work.
Through examples of historical, social, and political type-driven work, you will learn how to create your own 2D design work in the form of your choice: a comic book strip, a zine, or a quick-start how-to guide. Each participant will be asked to contribute their work towards a collaborative publication that covers each step of the production process.
You will come away understanding the weight and potential of words and their social impact and how to add your own interpretation and twist on meaning-making design. At the end of the day, you will take home a printed booklet to add to your portfolio.
